Kentucky CNA Training
The Kentucky Medicaid Program approves Nurse Aides in the state, and the Kentucky Cabinet of Health and Family Services approves training programs. The Kentucky Community and Technical College System has responsibility for the final written or oral examination and the skills demonstration aspect of the competency evaluation. Officially, certification is not required by the state in conjunction with the Medicaid program. However, one must pass the exam administered by the College system in order to be placed on the Nurse Aide Registry and to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of Kentucky. The license must then be renewed every two years with proof of paid employment as well as 12 hours per year of ongoing education, which is required for nursing facilities.
