CNA Certificateion in District of Columbia

District of Columbia CNA Training

Certified Nursing Assistant training in the District of Columbia must be approved by the District of Columbia Health Regulation and Licensing Administration. Training consists of 120 hours, with 45 in a classroom, 30 hours in a clinical laboratory practicum, and 45 hours in a nursing home practicum—more than the national average, ensuring that CNAs in DC will be well prepared to excel as a health care professional.

In order to become certified as a Nursing Assistant in the District of Columbia, students must take the CNA exam through Pearson Vue. It costs $117 for both the written exam and skills evaluation, and the application is available through the DC Health Professional Licensing Administration. It requires that you have completed nurses training in the last 24 months, and licenses must be renewed every two years at a cost of $12 and accompanied by proof of 24 hours of continuing education over the same time period.
