New Mexico, NM - CNA Certification Training Programs

New Mexico, like many other states, is experiencing high demand for CNAs. CNA training in New Mexico is regulated by the New Mexico Department of Health. Training courses consist of a Federal minimum of 75 hours of training, with at least 16 hours in the classroom and 16 hours of hands-on clinical instruction, and can be completed in as little as two weeks. In addition, it is possible to have a long-term care facility pay for training with commitment to stay with the facility for a pre-determined period of time after training is complete.

CNA licenses in New Mexico are issued after passing a test administered by Prometric , who also provide practice tests. The two-part test includes a written examination and a skills demonstration component at a cost of $95. Once one has successfully passed the CNA exam and registered with the New Mexico CNA registry (https://dhi.health.state.nm.us/nar/nar.php), certification must be renewed every two years with proof of at least eight hours of employment as a Certified Nursing Assistant over the same time period.
