Applications for a South Carolina LPN to BSN program are evaluated by previous grades and employer recommendations and entry is highly competitive—spots are limited and demand outstrips supply, so only the better applications are accepted.
After studies begin, course work takes three years and progresses from general nurse management and care, to advanced nursing theory, practices, and concepts, and also includes specialized electives in a variety of topics from which nurses can pick based on their personal interest—varying from rural health programming to third world nursing and a plethora of other options that can be quite different from college to college.
The program culminates with receipt of a Bachelor of Science, Nursing, and the RN licensure exam: the NCLEX-RN. The test is administered by Pearson Vue after applying to the South Carolina Board of Nursing, and costs $200 to take and requires a $97 application fee. Students leave with greatly enhanced work opportunities with high earning potential, and also with the opportunity to pursue graduate studies and become an Advanced Practice Nurse or pursue an MA, Nursing.
