How to Do an LPN to BSN in Rhode Island

Completing an LPN to BSN in Rhode Island takes the better part of three years. First, a currently licensed LPN must apply to a college of nursing that offers the program along with transcripts from previous training and recommendations from any past and current employers. Upon acceptance, rigorous studies begin with advancing a nurse’s knowledge of nursing concepts, practices and theories to an advanced level. And, students take elective courses that allow them to expand their knowledge in areas of particular personal interest as well.

Once course work is complete, students receives a Bachelor of Science, Nursing, and prepare to take the RN licensure exam: the NCLEX-RN, which costs $200 via national test administrators Pearson Vue and application to the Rhode Island Board of Nurse Registration and Nursing Education, which costs an additional $130. The pass rates for all nurses taking the NCLEX-RN in Rhode Island are quite high—close to 90 percent—and students graduating from a BSN program should be well-prepared for the licensure exam. It is the last step along a path to a diverse and satisfying career in health care that goes well beyond the realm of direct patient care.
