How to Do an LPN to BSN in Oregon

The first step is applying to a program of choice, available throughout the state. Applications are considered by grades and employer recommendations and entry is competitive. Upon enrollment, classes progress from general nurse management and care, to advanced nursing theory, practices, and concepts, and specialized electives in a variety of topics from which nurses can pick based on their personal interest—varying from rural health programming to third world nursing and a plethora of other options. And upon completion of required course work with satisfactory grades, one receives a Bachelor of Science, Nursing, and is well-prepared to take the RN licensure exam: the NCLEX-RN, which costs $200 through Pearson Vue after applying to the Oregon State Board of Nursing at a cost of $160. The pass rates for all nurses taking the NCLEX-RN in Oregon are a bit better than 85 percent, and those graduating from an LPN to RN program tend to do better than average, opening up access to a diverse and satisfying career in health care that goes well beyond the realm of direct patient care.
