Mississippi CNA Training

CNA training in Mississippi is regulated by the State Department of Health and is widely available. Courses in the state comply with federal guidelines and consist of a minimum of 75 hours of training, with a minimum of 16 hours of supervised hands-on experience and a concurrent minimum of 16 hours of classroom instruction. However, training courses in the state sometimes run longer to ensure optimal training is achieved. Courses do not require a high school diploma or GED, and can cost as little as $350. Furthermore, some care facilities offer free training with a commitment to stay at that facility for an extended period of time after completion.

Certified Nursing Assistant License in Mississippi

The Mississippi Department of Health provides CNA licenses through Pearson Vue, who offer extensive information and practice tests for CNAs in the state. There are eight test sites throughout the state. After completing a state-approved training program, the Mississippi CNA test consists of a two-part test including a written examination and a skills demonstration test, which costs $89. Once one has successfully passed the CNA exam and registered with the Mississippi CNA registry, certification must be renewed every two years with proof of at least eight hours of employment as a Certified Nursing Assistant over the same time period and at a cost of $25.
