How to Do an LPN to BSN in Louisiana

Before entering an LPN to BSN education program in Louisiana, one must meet general studies acceptance requirements and in turn apply to the college of nursing. Work experience and recommendations of current employers play a part in acceptance alongside grades in previous training.

Once the program has begun it takes about three years to complete. General studies classes in things like sociology and psychology complement core nursing classes on practice and concepts as it relates to a wide range of subcategories within the nursing field such as maternity, elder care, and mental health.

In addition to earning a Bachelor’s Degree, an LPN to BSN program culminates with the NCLEX-RN, or the Registered Nurse Licensure Examination. It costs $145.25 to apply to take the test, and $200 to take it via Pearson Vue once approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing. Successful graduates leave the program with a BSN, a license to practice as a Registered Nurse, and a breadth and depth of knowledge that opens the door to opportunities throughout the world of health care and beyond.
