CNA License in Alabama

Licensing for Certified Nursing Assistants is regulated by the Alabama Department of Public Health (http://www.adph.org/). Becoming a CNA in Alabama does not require a high school diploma or GED, but some programs do require one for entry. Courses are provided by the Red Cross, community colleges, and Easter Seals. Additionally, there are some high schools in Alabama that allow students to take CNA courses prior to graduation.
Once training is complete, a CNA must pass the National Nurse Aide Acceptance Program exam within 24 months of graduating from a training program before beginning to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Alabama.
