Alaska CNA Training

Training to become a Certified Nursing Assistant in Alaska typically consists of 160 hours of study typically split between the classroom and onsite work experience in labs and clinics. A minimum of 60 hours of classroom study and 80 hours of supervised clinical experience is required by the state to become a licensed Certified Nursing Assistant or Nurse Aide. To enter a CNA program in Alaska a high school degree is not necessary but a GED or ABLE test is. University programs typically include over 200 hours of training and cost around $1500-2000.

CNA License in Alaska

Certified Nursing Assistant licenses in Alaska are governed by the Alaska Board of Nursing and cost $339 to take the exam when all is said and done which is often included in training programs. Licenses must be renewed every two years on even numbered years and 12 hours of continuing education in the first two years with 24 hours of continuing education in subsequent years. Additionally a minimum of 160 hours of paid employment as a Certified Nursing Assistant is required in order to renew a CNA license in Alaska.
